Colleges Of Education To Introduce Additional English Language Course To Boost Reading Skills

Public Colleges of Education are expected to introduce an Additional English Language (AEL) Course to boost the reading and comprehension skills of students in the Colleges.

This was suggested by the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum during a stakeholder meeting with the leadership of the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PrinCof).

Reason

The Minister’s suggestion came after there have been arguments that some students from the Junior High Schools (JHS) and Senior High Schools (SHS) can not read and write well but get to the Colleges of Education due to the introduction of the Free SHS Initiative.
